Doune is situated 4 miles North of the fishing village
of Mallaig on the North West coast of Scotland.
Although its location is remote, we have good road and rail connections
to the rest of Scotland.
By car
If coming to Mallaig by car, then depending on when you travel, you
should allow between 1 and 1½ hours Fort William to Mallaig.
3 to 4 hours Glasgow to Fort William or 1½ to 2½ hours
Inverness to Fort William. Most of the road is good double track, except
one short section of the Mallaig-Fort William road which is still single
track (this last section is to be widened in 2006). If you are unused
to this type of road, allow a wee bit of extra time for this part of
the journey.

All trains to Fort William and Mallaig operate through Glasgow. You
can check time tables on the UKrail
