SLEEP
beside the sea…
Stays at Doune are for three, four or seven nights, arriving and leaving on a Tuesday or Saturday. When checking availability using the link below, please ensure your arrival date and departure day is either a Tuesday or a Saturday.
Cross the water and join us and our way of life here at Doune, a destination unlike any other. Remote and peaceful, set amongst the magnificent coastal scenery of the Scottish Highlands, Doune is on the Western shore of the Knoydart peninsula – one of Europe’s last wild places.
We’re off grid with no road vehicle access, the only way in or out is by sea or on foot. We’re remote, but not isolated, operating our boat to transport our guests the 40 minutes by sea from Mallaig.
We’re the choice for hikers, climbers, kayakers, wildlife lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, artists, crafters, foodies and many looking to simply sit back and relax.
Fresh air and stunning views, surrounded by nature and wildlife. Walk in the afternoon sun, relax with hot tea and scones and enjoy home cooked, freshly prepared food, drinks and lots of memories to cherish.
Sea, mountains, wildlife, great food, and a warm welcome await
come and enjoy a stay with us…the adventure begins before you arrive!
beside the sea…
Doune Knoydart’s four rooms are perfect for solo travellers, two people travelling together and for families. Our three en suite rooms, Gannet, Kittiwake and Shearwater, can be made up with either a Super king sized bed or twin beds and each room has a mezzanine floor with space for two single mattresses. With the shore on your doorstep and uninterrupted views to Skye, we offer an exclusive, personal holiday unlike any other.
We don’t believe Solo travellers should pay more for a room per person and so our Old Bothy room is available for both single and double occupancy. 2024 has seen the addition of an en suite bathroom, a double bed and improved access.
fabulous fresh food…
Enjoy fabulous, freshly-prepared food in Doune Knoydart Restaurant. Everything is home-made from locally-sourced fresh ingredients. The ambience is warm, friendly and relaxed, with comfy seating for predinner drinks, and large hand made oak tables for communal dining..
Much of our fruit and veg is home grown in our poly tunnel and allotment and we have a flock of twenty chickens, keeping us supplied with fresh free range eggs. We carefully source our ingredients from Scottish suppliers that we have been able to build great relationships with over the years. If it can’t be Scottish then it will be British and we do everything we can to support independent small businesses that we can build strong relationships with.
We also pride ourselves on our baking and everything from our Sourdough to our croissants is hand made and hand baked here at Doune. For 2024 we will be introducing our Kadai, a traditional firepit with a clay oven which will be put to good use for not only meats and vegetables, but also for breads and pizzas.
