Doune for Families

Rock pools, seals, boating, no traffic to worry about what could be better?

The three Stone Lodge rooms nestle between the hillside and the sea. Rebuilt from the ruins of a cottage which stood empty for 140 years they are traditional in appearance, but modern in comfort. The windows look out over the moored boats and Dun Head, where there are the remains of a pictish, vitrified fort.  The view then extends over to Skye and provides fabulous sunsets on a summers evening.

There is a choice of twin or double rooms with ensuite facilities and plenty of space.  A built in ladder gives access to the guzover with two full size mattresses ideal for older children.  For little ones we can bring a mattress down or we have a travel cot.  Each room has it's own porch and access to the sea-facing decking along the front of the building. There are drying facilities and a second lighting system, for when the generator is not running. (We generate all electricity ourselves). No TV, but lots of games and fun things to do.doune stone lodge interior knoydart

All holidays are fully catered and well behaved young people are welcome in the dining room.  For younger ones we can arrange an early supper if required and for babies, a standard baby alarm will work in the dining room so you can relax and enjoy your meal in confidence.

When choosing something to do; simply walk or play locally, or make use of our skippered charter boat Gripper  which opens up opportunities for accessing other local beaches, walking, wildlife watching or fishing for mackerel!  Our skipper is available every evening to discuss plans for the following day.
