Knoydart Wildlife
Visitors to Doune are fortunate to be in the midst of some of the finest wildlife in the country. We do not run specific wildlife watching holidays, but whether it is a walk along the coast from Doune, a boat trip up beautiful Loch Hourn or an exciting tour of the Small Isles there is so much to look out for.
What we see varies from month to month and from week to week. Seals, porpoises and deer are always present and easy to watch and throughout the summer there is the chance of seeing a whale, an otter, an eagle or a pod of dolphins.
In the spring we see stunning displays of colourful flowers and the first of the nesting birds.

Summer brings large numbers of seabirds along with yet more marine life such as the huge basking shark.

Finally with late summer most of the birds have gone and it's the time for the red deer rut and the amazing colours of autumn.
