Doune is the perfect destination for a group of friends to relax and enjoy themselves. The three Stone Lodge rooms nestle between the hillside and the sea. Rebuilt from the ruins of a cottage which stood empty for 140 years. They are traditional in appearance, but modern in comfort. The windows look out over the moored boats and Dun Head, where there are the remains of a pictish, vitrified fort. The view then extends over to Skye and provides fabulous sunsets on a summers evening
There is a choice of twin or double rooms with ensuite facilities and plenty of space with easy chairs to relax and enjoy the view. Each has it's own porch and access to the sea-facing decking along the front of the building. There are drying facilities and a second lighting system, for when the generator is not running. (We generate all electricity ourselves). In addition to the Stone Lodges there is a fourth room, the Bothy, a delightful room at the end of the restaurant building. Light and airy and brightly furnished, the room has a comfortable single bed which can be converted to twin beds if required. The bothy is not en-suite, but there is a washhand basin in the room and and a shower and toilets are right next door.
When choosing something to do, our boat Gripper opens up many opportunities from visits to Skye, wildlife watching, or drop offs for walking on all of Knoydart from easy tracks to the more challenging peaks. Our skipper is available every evening to discuss plans for the following day.
Beautiful, freshly prepared food in the Doune Dining Room will be the perfect end to your day.
Small groups of 6 - 8 friends using all our Stone Lodge rooms can enjoy a special rate when taking exclusive use of the skippered charter boat Gripper for their stay.
We can tailor this holiday totally to your requirements - please get in touch to discover what is available and discuss any ideas you may have. Do have a look at the Stone Lodge Prices as a guide but we will give you an individual quote when we have discussed your requirements.
