Doune offers the opportunity to combine mountain and sea; to walk the unfrequented places where it is still unusual to meet up with other people on the hill. We give access to islands which offer a special attraction to walkers and climbers. Walk on Knoydart, which although part of the mainland is not accessible by road. Effectively an island it has some of Scotland's finest peaks. Use of our boats to access them gives unequalled opportunities for a variety of walks from mountains tops to beautiful coastal paths and drover's tracks.

With 9 Munros, 13 Corbetts, 8 Grahams, 41 Marilyns and a host of other peaks, paths, tracks and beaches, there is a variety few places can match. All are within the daytrip range of Mary Doune and many can be reached using Gripper. Walkers of all levels and abilities catered for.

We think the finest walk on Knoydart is to Ladhar Bheinn and Coire Dhorrcail, now owned and conserved by the John Muir Trust. But there are many others including Sgurr na Ciche, Meall Buidhe, and Luinne Bheinn, all Munroes (>3000ft). Or the tracks and pony paths of Mam Barisdale, Mam Li and Glen Meadail, as well as the little known track to the remains of an old mica mine, high above the shores of Loch Nevis.

Guests staying in Doune Stone Lodges can take advantage of the flexibility that using our boat Gripper gives for exploring Knoydart. No need to retrace your steps at the end of the day, just get dropped off at one end of your route and then collected from the other end when you're finished.

The use of Mary Doune gives you access to the islands, to walk the peaks of the Rum Cuillin. Or for the less strenuous, a magnificent walk up the Sgurr of Eigg, or across the beautiful island of Canna. The Cuillin of Skye are renowned, and Mary Doune gives access to their heart in Loch Scavaig.
